Default Dual core support with R65 on SPLAT 2.6

Hello,

does anybody know if NGX R65 on SPLAT 2.6 supports more than 1 CPU. I don't mean the product "coreXL" which hasn't been released by Checkpoint yet.

Tks in advance for any hints where I could obtain information.

Tish

CoreXL was released by checkpoint a couple months ago. I downloaded
the CoreXL CD two weeks ago from Checkpoint web site.

What do you mean? SPLAT has an SMP kernel, the FW kernel doesn't take advantage of the multi-core/CPU but a 2nd processing unit will help some (logging and general OS tasks mostly)

CoreXL and the Multi-core product suite is in limited availability right now. If you are CPU bound, contact your CHKP SE or reseller about it.

I'm running SPLAT on a 2 CPU Box.. Both are recognized, and both are used as you will see below...

Clarifying...The Firewall Kernel Process is single threaded and will not make use of additional CPU's. There are many other processes that will and a second CPU or core will help. More than that without CoreXL won't help at all.

I'm sorry, I should also clarify that this is a SPLAT box that runs only my SmartCenter (Management/Logging). Of which both of those benefit from the dual cpu's.

On a side note, this new server is a Godsend. Previous it took about 45 seconds to a minute to save a policy, and 7-10 minutes to push a policy. Now saves take about 4 seconds, and pushes about 30-45 seconds... I'm in heaven!

Ahh a very different situation. SmartCenter will benefit from more CPU/Memory as almost all of it is userspace processes.
