Default Space Issues

First off, thanks for all the info on these forums. I have been lurking for quite awhile and finally got an account.

I have an issue with moving my SPLAT (r65 build 123) onto a new box. I have attempted to do a backup then FTP it to the new box and tried to restore it. Only for it to fail with compression problems.

So, I have been trying to make the image smaller. I have noticed by running the 'df' command that my /dev/sda7 Filesystem is 95% full. It says that it is mounted on '/opt'.

I thought that maybe this might be the logs, so I cleared 3 years of logs yesterday, and that number didnt change.

Any ideas on what to clear to get some space back?

/opt is where almost all of the Check Point software is installed. Did you do any upgrades on this box? If so, you may be able to remove some of those older files.

FWIW, I was doing a test upgrade on an R61 firewall to R65 and it seemed to run out of disk space during the upgrade because some of the files were zero bytes.

/opt was right on the edge of the needed free disk space when I started. It was 97% (36 GB disks) when it ended. I blew it away and did a clean R65 install and /opt was only at 13%

Is this a combined firewall/SmartCenter?

Yeah, its a stand alone installation. I did do an upgrade from 61 to 65. Thats probably what the issue is.. old files/installations.

I am trying to upgrade to a different box with a fresh install. However, having some hardware issues i believe.
