I tried to rebuild my Eventia Suite server today on a DL380 G4, which is on the HCL for R65. Prior to the rebuild however, I was on R63 and had a 6 x 300 GB RAID-5 that worked just fine. I was unable to install R65 SPLAT with all 6 drives in. It appears that more than 1 TB of disk space is too much for R65 SPLAT. I don't know the exact size cutoff, but take this info and maybe you guys can confirm it in a lab. 1) Failed install of R65 SPLAT - cciss I/O error on c0d0 and error detail dump 2) Downloaded the HCL CD for R65, same failed results and error detail dump 3) Tried toggling the write-back cache on the RAID array and re-ran HCL cd, it failed again, so I put the settings back. 4) Tried it on a different server, no problem. Main difference between the 2 boxes was size of HDD array 5) Yanked 2 disks, left 4 in - re-built array to 4 x 300 GB RAID-5 ~840 GB. Passed R65 HCL cd boot. 6) Put disks back in and re-created larger array (1.3 TB) and booted R63, installed fine - cancelled after file copy starts 7) At 1.3 TB, R65 failed install again. Removed disks, back to 840 GB. 8) Installed, fully configured and operational several hours later, my R65 Eventia Suite server is also my primary log server and I'm bringing in Windows server logs as well. Server specs: (can provide detailed part specs if needed) HP DL380 G4 2 x 3.6 GHz Xeons (Hyperthreading is enabled) 4 GB RAM 6 x 300 GB 10k HDD RAID-5 (Final build on R65 was 4 drives only) 192 MB HP6i embedded RAID controller Hope this helps someone else. I didn't see anything like this in the SK. I also reported it to Checkpoint. __________________ There's no place like 127.0.0.1

Per CheckPoint support: It appears that SPLAT's current incarnation using the 2.4x kernels have a limitation of 1TB. This should be resolved in a future product, which will use the 2.6x kernel and should have an LVM for creating / managing 1TB+ size partitions. I thought it was extremely odd that R63 had no issues, but R65 does. __________________ There's no place like 127.0.0.1

AFAIK, R63 only exists in the form of Eventia Suite (Analyzer and Reporter). I was in the EA for Eventia Suite and did run a beta for a while. When the final was released, I wiped the box clean and installed the release build. Once again, very odd that R63 had no issue with 1.3 TB. __________________ There's no place like 127.0.0.1 Last edited by lammbo; 2007-08-03 at 15:31.
