| Hi I'm planning a firewall installation, and getting conflicting information about this feature. What CP products do I need to get basic load balancing between two ISP lines? The product will hopefully be Express R55 on SPLAT on an Intel platform, for 50 users. The idea is to get some sort of redundancy between an ADSL line and another ISP line. We cannot afford HA or clustering or anything like that, and nobody can tell me if the basic, simple Express (not Pro) R55 on SPLAT licence allows me to use the load balancing/failover option in R55. We don't want to run BGP, the simple load balancing features in R55 sounds ideal. Cost is a major issue for this small company - so if I have to buy anything extra apart from the basic Express R55 on SPLAT , I cannot use Check Point although I very much want to stick with it. The (second-hand) information I have is that this feature is available for free, but nobody in our sales channel can confirm it. Does anybody have definite information about this? Thanks! James |

| the first port of call should have been the reseller that supplies you with your software subs and licenses. if they dont/didnt know then i would strongly suggest changing your reseller. as far as i am aware, the express license includes isp failover/loadbalancing. HA clusterXL is included if you wanted to do failover, but load balancing is a seperate license. you would also need a seperate gateway license for a failover box. and also take the management off onto a seperate box. hope that helps. (you would soon know if you tried to configure it and you did need a license you would get errors) |
