Default Hardware compatibility

Hi all,

We have a new list of IBM servers we can buy in my company. So I'm having a look at CP's Open Servers.
IBM x3550 is listed so can i assume that it would work fine on an x3500 ?
For an x3550, it says "This platform requires R62 GA.". Do you know what GA stands for ?
It is also written that "This platform is not supported by SecurePlatform R60 GA and R61 GA. It will be supported in future HFA media packs of R60 and R61." ... I have a R60 (HFA03 included). Do you think it would work with it ?

Thanks in advance.

Seems like a safe assumption to me.

General Availability = the release version. AKA Not EA = Early Availability.

I would imagine it'll be specfically noted that a particular HFA includes support for the model number. I'd avoid the difficulties and go with R65.

OK thanks. I guess an R60 with HFA_05 would work on those servers.

Hi aenima,

I'm not pretty sure that your server will work with NGX R60.
Please take a look at this link:
http://www.checkpoint.com/services/t.../hcl/vpn1.html

It is only stated that IBM x3550 are supported for R62 and R65.
Nothing mentions that R60 (any HFA) is supported.

I think it will be safer to use R62 or R65, but you can always try R60 if you have some time before the deployment. It might work.

Thanks.

You are right, i have to use R62 on x3550 servers.
R60_HFA06 will be released in September and will support x3550 servers but i cannot wait that long.
