I just recieved a HP ProLiant DL-360 G5 server to install R61 Splat. Cause I saw that it was listed on the Recommended platform list from checkpoint, I figure I wouldn't have any issues. Well, it didn't detect mass storage,NIC drivers for the quard card, video and a bunch other stuff. Of course usb stuff and the Lilo hp stuff, which is fine. The R61 version I have is a media pack that came from checkpoint about a year ago now. Not sure what "take"=version it is. Anyone know how to find this out? eg R61 take 56 is what is needed for HP ProLiant DL-360 G5. Maybe the version(take) isn't right http://www.checkpoint.com/products/s...r_r60/028.html Anyway. It is a good idea to run the SecurePlatform Hardware Compatibility Testing Tool. Only problem is that if you buying a new server you can not run the compatibility tool before hand. So your following the recommended platforms then. I have downloaded the R62 Compatibility tool and that appears that it should work fine with the HP ProLiant DL-360 G5 box pruchased. Looking to get a R62 release now. http://www.checkpoint.com/products/s...ting_tool.html Another question I have is. How is someone suppose to load drivers when most new servers don't come with floppy drives? As well what drivers whould a guy use for Secureplatform ? RH3 ?

Looked at another firewall that I built, that I used the same media pack that I was attempting to use for the HP ProLiant DL-360 G5. Found that the "version and build" is NGX R61 133. Does "take" = "build"? Why would checkpoint start using take instead of build???????

R61 take 56 - it's version with new drivers for some hardware. Ask support about ISO. http://secureknowledge.checkpoint.co...do?lid=sk31807

Hey... Thanks for the information. That makes sense now. I have a R62 media pack on its way. So I might just use that. I was told by a checkpoint Rep that they don't offer the .ISO for download any longer. IS this on a case by case situation? Would be nice to just get the updated files and burn my own cd and be done.

Contacting Checkpoint doesn't help, they will not give you a .ISO for download. You need to get the R62 upgrade pack or order the R61 take 56. Link to the R62 upgrade Pack. https://www.checkpoint.com/GetSecure...R62_OrderStart

If you contact support, assuming you have a direct contract, and you require a special or interim SPLAT build, support will give you access to an ISO when they determine that the ISO will solve your problem. If on the other hand, all you need is the currently shipping media kit, they will not supply the ISO and have you order it. Your reseller and/or Check Point SE often can get you media kits faster than the upgrade process will. Now for the real problem of HW vendors changing what they ship with any given model, your best bet is to ask your Check Point SE or call support, they have access to the SPLAT developers list and can get you an answer as to what build you need. As for Take vs. Build, there is no 1::1 correlation I've been able to find. From what I've been able to gather from the EA program is a take is a full build sent to QA for testing/release where build numbers are the incremental builds for the developers.

Got R62 installed today. It detected all the most important hardware. I did not have much luck with Checkpoint support in getting a .iso download. One guy said yes and then the next person said no. I did have a R61 disk that wasn't that old. So a download of of R61 Take 56 would have been a nice quick fix, instead of waiting a few days to get the one in the mail. I feel like we are going back to the stone age having to ge one via mail. Would like to download one and be able to install that day. Anywho... R62 order via mail fixed my problem.
