Default Dual port or quad port NICS in SPLAT

Good Day to all
We are looking to do a move to a secure platform system for our firewall system, but I have a few queries about selecting the network cards to put into the system.

Firstly, the checkpoint site makes reference on the compatible devices list ( http://www.checkpoint.com/products/s...ngx/index.html ) that the Intel Pro 100 S dual port card could fall back to a different driver version under certain situations. Would anyone know what situation/config this is a problem? Or is anyone using this card in their firewall system?

The system we will be using is a little older, so unfortunately does not have support for PCI Express meaning the Dual/quad port Intel 1000 MT and GT server cards look to be out. (MT cards look to support only 3.3V PCI so will not slot into the older motherboard)

Which other cards are being used/have been tested in SPLAT systems, and how well do they work?

Thanks in advance.
Jeff.

(I apologise if there is a similar question already. I did a search but could only find reference to either very old Dlink cards or the Intel cards from above.)

i am using intel quad cards, old and new version of them (new version has the drivers in hfa_04 if we are talking about r60, r62 has it out of the box). Both are working without any problems.

Thank you for the reply. Exactly what cards are these? (I assume you mean the Pro 1000 MT and Pro 1000 GT cards, but just to be sure. I unfortunately can not use either of these cards anyway due to an older motherboard. It's good to have a confirmation either way as we may need to look at using a newer system).

Thanks in advance.

Edit:
In case it helps someone, I have checked with Intel and the 3.3V restriction applies only to the quad port cards, not dual port.
