Default SPLAT and HFA

Hi

I'm very new to using SPLAt and trying to patch up to R60_HFA_03... i understand from the notes that I can't do this via the GUI - so am trying to do it via the shell.

The notes say:

Copy the file SecurePlatform_R60_HFA_03.tgz to a local folder on your machine, it is advised to copy the file to a folder under /var, for example:
mkdir -p /var/hfa/R60_03_SPLAT

It might sound stupid - but how do I actually transfer the upgrade files to the firewall?!?!

You can burn them to CD or you may dump the files onto a TFTP server and download them from there.

If you aren't familiar with Linux, remember that'll you have to mount the CD. Check some basic Linux sites for more information on mounting the CD and moving the files.

Don't forget about ssh :) You can use scp for copy on/from splat.

If SCP'ing TO the SPLAT box, you have to edit /etc/scpusers and add in your username.

Perhaps use WinSCP which simply gives you drag and drop options so may be helpful if you dont want to dig deep into Linux stuff :-o)

You still need to edit the /etc/scpusers file on the splat box to allow scp.

WinSCP is one of the tools CHKP recommends but I never got it to work with splat, but then again I know the command line commands and gave up after about 30 secs

To use WinSCP, all i do is create a specific user on splat (adduser) et change its shell (from cpshell to bash) in /etc/passwd.

You can also use a usb key.
