With SPLAT NGX you can setup via the web interface to automatically run backups using tftp. Has any one done that? I'm running into issues where tftp per the RFC has a limit of 32 megs. However, the backup file is about ~300 megs. Thus with the RFC limit this will not work. I like the ability to schedule something without attaching user credentials to the automatic backup. How are you all approaching the issue? Thanks, Kevin

Check this thread for example ftp backup script- http://cpug.org/forums/showthread.php?t=1375. Or you can use scp for backup. See parametres "backup" commands from command line. About tftp. Size limit depends on tftp server, for example next server (found by google http://www.freefunfiles.com/software...ftp-turbo.html) doesn't have 32MB file size limitation.

HI, I have a distributed SPLAT configuration, and I tried to make an upgrade (NG-R55 to NGX-R60). Before upgrading the smartcenter server, I used the smartcenter server web interface backup feature to backup my configuration. After upgrading to NGX with (patch add cd ) command line, the upgrade failed and I am unable to go back to my previous configuration (R55), there is something corrupted. The backup files were stored in the SCP server, and after re-installing the R55 (clean install), the restore process gives me the following : The following information will be restored: [1] system ------------------------------------------------------------------ The following information will NOT be restored: [2] cp_products ------------------------------------------------------------------ Choose one of the following: ------------------------------------------------------------------ [C] Continue. [D] Do not restore the following. [R] Restore the following. [Q] Quit. ------------------------------------------------------------------ Is there any way to get my objects and policy rules back ? thanks. omahrez.

Hi, I did it, but I get the same message. In fact, I saved my backup.tgz in my scp server, and I checked the content of my backup, I coud see that everything was there. So I copied (folder by folder) to my smartcenter server al my backup content, and everything is ok now. I really don't understand why the restore process of Checkpoint doesn't work, and copying folder by folder the content of the backup, works ??? strange, isn't it ? thanks for your prompt response anyway. omahrez.

were you going from NGX to NGX? if you were upgrading or going cross platform it might not have worked? Regardless it's strange.. should have automatically restored good to know you can do it manually if need be __________________ ///M

same problem happened to me when trying to upgrade from R60 to R62. First i took a backup of the settings by using the backup -t funtion. file came to be about 5mb (had only 5 rules to test). then i re installed R62, and went to restore using the backup i created. Ip's, password and host name were ok, but the rest (including cluster setup) got lost. what i noticed is that during restore, there were 2 options to recover : System and cp_products. only system was restored, the other wasn't allowed to be selected even i pressed M to modify restore items. omahrez, what items did you copy from ur backup to recover the policies pls? thanks

You cannot use backup/restore for "upgrade" CP version. Backup/restore works only for specific current version with current HFA. If you want upgrade from R60 to R62 with reinstallation server you need to use upgrade_export/upgrade_import.
