Default USB Floppy drive?

I am trying to install SPLAT but the server doesn't have a floppy drive. Does SPLAT installation support usb floppy drives? I would need to install some SATA drivers.

I have had the same problem with the HP DL140. It does not support an onboard floppy drive. The Hardware picks up an external USB floppy drive but the SecurePlatform (NGX R60 and 61) does not pick up the external Floppy drive. If you found a solution please let me know. Thanks

I take it you havn't got the optional cdrom drive with this server?

Is there no way you can connect in a cdrom drive via one of the internal IDE channels just to load the base splat software on i.e. a short period of time with the case open?

If your just wanting to get some experience of the splat system ever thought of using vmware or virtual PC. If you want real world, one of the test systems I use is an old AMDK166, 40GB HD and 368MB of memory - works well and proves you don't need anything flash to run it. Just a thought.

As to the USB floppy drive, I have not been able to get one to work at all...so during installs where you have to have a drivers disk or whatever, I have always had to pop the chassis open and hang a FDD off the mobo for the install.

that isn't much use when the splat install process is asking for the floppy disk/drive for the drivers for additional devices such as ethernet or sata drivers.
We have experienced the same problem with ibm x306m

Hi Rdover

May I ask you how you resolved the problem with the IBM 306m Server ?

I'm seeing the same trouble by submitting the sata drivers...

Thank you
Paolo

Here is the answer:

SPLAT on IBM x306m (ICH7 SATA drivers)

Checkpoint must made this info available to public.
