We are an equal opportunity employer and a smoke free workplace. American Cancer Society is currently seeking a Network Security Engineer responsible for the following:
• Responsible for managing, implementing and monitoring the American Cancer Society corporate enterprise network security infrastructure.
• Provides network analysis of security-related issues and concerns.
• Monitors Checkpoint Firewall NGAI; VPN and Intrusion Detection System logs for malicious activity and attack patterns.
• Follows up on open help tickets with the appropriate ACS Information Technology (IT) teams and/or outside vendors when necessary.
• Ensures rapid discovery and resolution of network and firewall security problems. Assists ACS Corporate IT and ACS Division IT teams to implement necessary steps to improve network security policies and standards. Develops standards and policies procedures for routine security auditing, assessment and penetration testing on a regular schedule.
• Carries a mobile phone out of hours on a rotation within the team in order to monitor and take action when appropriate to ensure continued security of the NHO servers. Attends team and any other meetings as appropriate.
• Participates in development of disaster recovery plans. Other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or equivalent experience. Minimum of 3-5 years of current experience in data and voice network security.
• Proficiency with various firewall technologies. Knowledge of common exploits, vulnerability, and countermeasures.
• Strong analytical and organizational skills with critical thinking and problem solving abilities. Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and oral and written communication skills. Self-motivated and able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Experience with Microsoft Servers and Unix operating systems. Unix Administration is a plus. Experience with various Security tools: Ethereal, Snort, ISS Real Secure, TCPDUMP, etc. Solid understanding of TCP/IP networking required.
• Experience with EIGRP, BRP, Netscreen/Juniper preferred.
