Default Passed!

Not as hard as I thought it would be, although it helped doing the course last week. You certainly need to know your command line!

My boss wants to sponsor me through CCMA, which is a bit scary as tere's not much info about it - so I think I'll appease him by getting the Nokia certs out of the way - does anybody know any resources for these? I'll probably get the opportunity to take the courses, but I'm not sure of their value to me as I spend most of my working life on IPSO.

I think there is a good amount of information available about the CCMA certification. I'm, too, planning (or at least thinking) about giving it a try.

URL: http://www.checkpoint.com/services/e...cma/index.html

Becoming a CCMA
Check Point recommends having 5 years experience with Check Point products.
Candidates must hold the following current Check Point certifications: CCSA/CCSE/CCSE+

The cool thing is that "The CCMA Computer-based exam is a -voucher only- exam." You need to request this voucher before you can even start to take the written exam. That sounds very top-notch. And you'll need to fly all over to Irving, Texas just to take the lab exam.

You should read the "CCMA Job Functions and Test Objectives". It provides a very detailled overview about the skills you need to pass.

It's also interesting that they don't actually know all the benefits you'll receive. At least an @checkpoint.com E-Mail address will be one of the benefits.

How was the course last week? Did you get hold of INFOView and IKEView? I've never seen those apps in real since we're not a CSP yet. Luckily I got hold of the ATRG which raised my Check Point knowledge by a few degrees.

Best regards,

Ooooooh, a checkpoint.com address, that makes the whole thing worthwhile :-)

I did read some of the job functions, and in fact my instructor from last week did the beta written so I can ping him for info.

Yes I did get hold of InfoView and IkeView which look to be very useful tools, InfoView looks very handy. I work for a big blue American company and they won't let us have InfoView either, so good to get it from the + course.

The course was the best I've been on from Checkpoint for the relevance for day to day work, in fact that's what made the exam quite easy, as it was just expanding on existing knowledge rather than introducing new concepts. I found CCSA quite hard as we don't use some functions of Firewall-1 at all - like SmartDefense for instance, and we've not yet got any NGX, we're still on 4.1, FP3 and R55. (There's a long certification process before we can use any software, so we always tend to lag behind quite severely).

I couldn't attend the course due to a lack of time. Now I've been provided with the opportunity to meet some tech guys from Check Point in a 2-day Boot Camp in the middle of April.

We are often working with the most recent versions; currently NGX (R65). This is required because we also take intense use of VPN-1 Edge appliances. Those aren't that much supported in older versions. Just the latest HFA_19 for NG AI (R55) brought support for it into a NG version.

By the way, Check Point started to make full .iso CD-Images available for download on their support sites. No need to wait for the Media Kits anymore.

Hello,

IKEView is part of InfoView. So you might only want to look for this one. The 'About' page of InfoView says 'For CSP use only'. Ask your CSP if he will provide you with a copy.

Infoview and Provider-1 infoview is a piece of junk. It keeps crashing on my
windows 2003 Server service pack 2 with the latest pacthes. I contact
checkpoint and they told me that there is nothing they can do. WTF!.

Run cpclean and then reinstall the product, I suspect it is an issue with the dashboard you have loaded. I would install 55 & 60 after the clean.
