HI guys, Preparing for the part of the exam that deals with the upgrade objectives - it is good to have to something to pracitce on - ie upgrade from. Do you think practicing an upgrade from NGX R60 to NGX R61 is a good idea ? I ask this for the simple reason that I don't have NG and frankly can't figure out where to get it from.

Well doing it at least one time would be nice. No rocket science really. upgrade_export on old machine upgrade_import on new machine I think you can download vmware image with ngx on checkpoint site so you can try it out. Search on the forum for 'vmware' there are several posts about it. edit: link http://www.opsec.com/vmware_downloads.html

Thanks , I might have expressed myself a little unclear, I meant: Can I test upgrade scenarios upgrading from NGX R60 to NGXR61 and not from NG to NGX as listed on the exam objectives. If yes will that be a good prep for the exam ? I already have NGXR60 and R61 and can play with that, however i don't have NG cos it's old now and nowhere to find.

By upgrades, they'll more be referring to NG/NG AI -> NGX, rather than R60->R61. Don't sweat it too much though - I think they'll more want you to know how to upgrade - e.g. with SPLAT "patch add cd", or using upgrade_export/upgrade_import. Have a quick read through the Upgrade Guide. If I was you I wouldn't worry too much about trying to set up an R55 system and upgrade it. Maybe try the R60-> R61 upgrade though. Perhaps also worth knowing about what versions you can upgrade from, and what backwards compatibility exists - e.g. that you can manage FP3 but not FP3 modules.
