NGX CCSA Exam

I'm taking the CCSA NGX test next week, and was wondering if any SmartLSM questions have come up on anyone's test?

I'm taking the CCSA NGX exam tomorrow, so I will definetly post a dump. I've been using the CheckPoint NGX R60 official documentation, along with the Syngress Configuring CheckPoint NGX book.

In my organization I'm responsible for 3 NGAI R55 gateways, so I setup a NGX lab, with a Nokia IP350 and a SmartCenter server with all the components installed (SmartMonitor, SMartPortal, SmartDirectory, etc.) to help me prepare for the exam.

When I passed the CCSA for v4.1, I remember alot of GUI related questions, so know the GUI and SmartConsole Apps.

I also being using the Boson practice tests, but there are alot of questions on topics I don't think are on the exam, like UserAuthority & SMartLSM.

Just passed the CCSA NGX exam 156-215.1

My exam had 73 questions. The topics I encountered were:
SmartDefense- DShield Storm Center
Web Intelligence- Host configuration
NAT- Bi-Directional NAT, Static, Hide
Security Policy- Database Revision, Anti-spoofing, implied rules, Global Policy
Encryption- Tunneling, Hashing algorithms
SMartConsole- alot of SmartMonitor & SMartTracker
SIC
Authentication- mostly Client authentication sign-on options, and refreshable timeouts
CLI commands- fw unloadlocal, fw ctl
SmartDirectory- LDAP
Content Security- UFP & CVP
SMartCenter High Availability- Strange because I though HA was a CCSE topic

I didnt't had any Remote Access, Eventia Reporter, SmartPortal, SmartMap, or VoIP

I am doing the CCSA NGX exam on Wednesday...

I have done the Boson tests to death and am generally getting between 75-90% depending on which test. I would agree that the standard of these tests certainly leave a lot to be desired.... I hope the CCSE ones improve soon...

I work on a HA NGX FW on Splat here most days, so I am hoping to reverse my recent appalling record in Cert exams in recent times....

Yes... I passed ... but only just.

I found the questions were quite different from the Boson tests, so I think I'll try to find an exam cram book for the CCSE. I didn't get any smart LSM... lots of NAT, a fair bit of LDAP, lots of s monitoring connections and using audit mode. Quite a few definition type questions... that I hadn't seen the terms for in the official checkpoint books.... hmmmm

the general consensus seems there is no smartLSM on the SA (thankfully!)
can you give me an example of some of these definition type questions you are referring to? Also i take it you were using the latest NGX bosons?

Make sure you know your defs for IKE, In place encryption, dig signatures etc...

And yes I only bought the Boson tests a couple of weeks ago and have continued to update them in the hope of improvement

I passed the CCSA NGX 156-215.1 last week, i had the same topics as Maveric and 73 questions.

-The question about SMartCenter High Availability: Read the PDF from smartview monitor, they will ask about status "COLLISION".
-You also need the other PDF documents. You can find them on the Checkpoint website!
-Question about how to increase the timeout of a telnet session. (create new service)
-A lot of questions about smartview monitor and AUDIT mode in smartview tracker.
-How to enable webintelligence for webservers
-Nothing about Eventia reporter, SmartLSM
-Nothing about content security UFP & CVP. That's CCSE stuff
-Authentication: Refreshable timeout

I did the Boson test for this exam but i find out that Boson is not up to date!

2 years ago i passed the NG with AI CCSA. I find out that the NGX 156-215.1 is more difficult than the NG with AI.

I took the test twice and was not tested on SmartLSM. Also no Eventia Reporter
and CVP/UFP stuff.

2 years ago i passed the NG with AI CCSA. I find out that the NGX 156-215.1 is more difficult than the NG with AI.

I just took the CCSA 215.1 and the above brain dump is pretty right on. Most of my test was on client auth, NAT, and Smart Console apps and rule base structure.

Although I did have 73 questions, not a one of them asked about logging modes or SmartLSM and I was asked about 1 or 2 question Eventia.

The Boson's are a huge waste IMO. I bought them and they're nothing like the tests. QA on the product must have been quick as there are plenty of typos, mistakes and missing options. Those things are understandable to a point, but the real problem is that questions aren't challenging your product knowledge.

ex.

Which rule belongs at the end of your security policy?

A. Global Properties
B. Cleanup Rule
C. Robots
D. Smart Defense
E. Earthquake

Obviously I'm exaggerating, but they're nothing at all like the actual tests.

I am planning to start studying for the CCSA exam. However I am confused about the CCSA NG and CCSA NGX. Which is the one Checkpoint is offering for certification. Which book do i start with. Is the book easily available in market (India). Please let me know on the the CCSA exams. I am totally confused.

Checkpoint is offering CCSA NG AI and CCSE NG AI certification until the end of August 2006. CCSA NGX and CCSE NGX are also availible now so both certifications are being run in parallell for now until August when NG AI certification becomes retired and you will only be able to do NGX certs. Lots of good books are availible (e.g. Syngress), however imho you are best studying from the checkpoint official courseware / references:-https://www.checkpoint.com/services/education/courseware/OrderHomePage.jsp and make use of all the product documentation downloads availible at Checkpoint:- http://www.checkpoint.com/support/te.../docs_r61.html

Not sure what availibility is like in India for courseware so contact your local ATC.
