Default Authentication of r/w administrator by Tacacs

Hi,
I am running SmartCenter Server R55 on Solaris 5.9. Via Smartconsole, I configured an admin for tacacs+ authentication, however SmartCenter Server is not initiating any request when I try to login with that admin.
Do I have to do anything else ?
thx, Karien

Hi Guys,

I`m having the same problem here. Tested with NGX = OK (request is being sent by FW Manager)

Tested with R55, FW Manager is not sending any request out. It should be sending an request on TCP port 49 (TACACS+)

Has anyone implemented this succesfully ? Didn`t find anything on the secureknowledge DB.

I ran into the same issue. Ended up running it all the way through Checkpoint and Nokia back end. Came back with it being a bug in R55 and not expected patch date yet. But I did get checkpoint to open and internal ticket with it fortunately and hopefully someone work on a fix one day. They did replicate the problem in their lab and know it's broke.

Wont work with R55. Although Checkpoint officially claims that it does work with external auth like TACACS+/Radius I'd tons of issues with TACACS+. With R60 or NGX it's quite straight forward and it worked.

R55 with Radius worked but frequently ran in to problems. One freq issue was Auth Packet dropped by FW it self. No explanation from CP yet. :)

Thank`s guys !

Really a big help with this info, is there maybe somewhere an official statement from Checkpoint on this issue ?
I didn`t find anything on Secureknowledge.

Indeed on NGX it works without any problems, only R55 is causing these problems.
