| Telnet to firewall host with User Auth doesn't work. If what you are attempting to do is allow users to telnet to the firewall for the purpose of "proxy" authentication (a-la version 2.1c), then you need to make the following to $FWDIR/conf/objects. Change the line that reads: prompt_for_destination (false) and change it to: prompt_for_destination (true) For guidelines on editing objects.C, refer to How do I edit objects.C or objects_5_0.C? If you want to allow people to telnet to the firewall to "log on" to the firewall itself, you will need to make sure that the telnet daemon is running on the firewall box itself. Check /etc/inetd.conf to see that the telnet daemon wasn't commented out by FireWall?-1 upon installation. If it was, uncomment it and send the inetd process a HUP signal. Note: It is not recommended you allow users to log onto your firewall directly. For enhanced security, I would recommend ssh. -- PhoneBoy - 30 Dec 2003 FAQForm FAQs.Class: AuthenticationFAQs, ServicesFAQs, TroubleshootingFAQs OperatingSystem?: FAQs.Version: |
