I'm Making Daily Improvements To The Discussion Board

Hello All,

I'm trying to make daily improvements to the discussion board. Essentially all new posts for the past six months went into the "Miscellaneous" category, but now that we have unlocked all the categories, I'm slowing moving threads to where they belong.

It may take a week or two, but I hope to eventually have every thread in the category that's best for it, in an effort to make things as easy to find as possible.

I've also removed the Google ads to simplify the page and reduce vertical space usage.

If you've got ideas on how to make this discussion board better, please let me know. I'm spending more time on it now and want to get it as fast and clear and useful as possible. I want to get a very active community in which we're really helping each other out.

OK, the major reorganization of the discussion board is essentially done. This is what I've worked on:

~No more Google ads
~Created new forums on important topics
~Merged some forums out of existence (troubleshooting, remote management)
~Redistributed lots of threads to their correct forums
~Cleaned up a bunch of things
~Merged FAQ and discussion board into a single structure

I plan to be more active now on the board and am interested in growing our community.

If you can think of any way to make it better, I'd be very interested.

I'm going to the forum homepage (http://www.cpug.org/forums) and than clicking "New Messages" daily. New and changed message list looks like RSS :)

I also click "New Messages", but it so "hard" and slow (connect, click, wait) :)

But I read that vBulletin support exntended module for rss. My be it's possible to make it. It will be cool.

We're currently running vBulletin version 3.12. They've recently released some upgrades, up to version 3.5.4, but I haven't done the upgrade yet. I value stable, running code much more than new features, so I'm sort of waiting for everyone else to break their teeth on the new versions before I upgrade.

Yes, upgraded about five hours ago. If you know how to add RSS support and want to clue me in, I'm all ears.
