I don't normally believe in using brain dumps but in this instance i have hands on experience, study experience and it is vital I pass this exam first time - as I'm leaving the UK soon after and I HAVE to pass.

Hi Matt,

I typed out a big reply to you on Saturday but got timed out before I finished it :-)

I have just put another post in mentioning this but thought I would reply here as well.

As you are probably aware, things have definitely changed alot since version 4. Also things like SmartDefense have created a whole new scope of questions that Check Point test on these days (however, this does mean the emphasis comes off NATing a little bit).

Your TestKing will be good for about 24 questions almost exactly word for word. There are a few more I recognised but they were not in the same format of the question that I remember.

The latest version (version 7) of the TestKing has added 5 questions that all have no answer yet (only a 'Pending' answer) and have obviously been hastely written as there are alot of typos and even a missing diagram.

If I can offer some advise as to time best spent it would be this.

Memorise your TestKing but be aware that it will only cover 24 questions exactly. You still need to answer another 25 right to get to 70%.

There will be a couple of easy questions around rule placement for implicit rules which you may be able to pick up a few more on.

Be aware thought that your main enemy (once you have studied), will be time. I could not believe how many questions were scenario-based (such as question 61 in the TestKing) with the question taking up the entire page and meaning you spend most of the time rereading the question to determine the correct answer.

If you have previous NATing experience then you are definitely going to score a few points there. If you have not had a role with a trouble-shooting capacity then you will need to brush up on NATing.

SmartDefense and Disaster Recovery are your other main areas.

Know how to trouble-shooting Web Intelligence setup problems and really focus on backing up, restoring and restoring individual components from the command-line as this will help no end.

Good luck Matt and let me know how you go.

Kind Regards
