I'm having the same problem, but mine is large file transfers acrross the WAN. Single files Gigabit or larger, or a large batch of smaller files via a Windows copy.

I've looked at the TCP Session Timeout settings on one of the firewalls, and we have it set to 24 hours, but the site that the files are coming from have a 60 second timeout.

I believe this to be the problem, but have to wait on them to change the setting. You might try to increase it from the default.
