 installing extra packages without blowing away gateway

Probably a stupid question [just cant find the answers anywhere]
Hypothetical - but some may have had to do this in a production environment
question
You have installed & configured an enforcment module - its now fully working in a production environemt - but you then get told by your boss that it should also be become a policy server for secure clients to pick up desktop policies
If this is a splat system how would you install this extra package without blowing away the whole system? is it a simple command - package add type scenario or RPM?
It must be relativley simple - i just cant find that answer :(
