Re: Installing CP Manager on Solaris 10 I used to work for a Security Service Provider, MSSP, and we run our Provider-1 on Solaris 9 platforms, and that it was a pain in the ass to manage this beast. Sun comes out with patches and when you applied patches to the servers, it breaks Provider-1. What you end up with is blame game between checkpoint and Sun. It is not worth the trouble to run P-1 on Solaris in my opinion. You will be better off with Provider-1 on Secureplatform, especially for training. You practically can install Provider-1 on Vmware or on a personal laptop and it will work just fine. However, if you decide to be to run Provider-1 on solaris, just be aware that when you run mds_setup, it may fail because some of the sun patches are not compatible with Checkpoint software. I've run into countless issues with this when installing NG Feature Pack 3 and NG AI R55 on solaris 9 because of stupid solaris 9 patches. Have fun. |
